Hobbits Knob Cat Retreat is owned and operated by Tania Barton
and Ivan Tuohy who reside on the property. Tania and Ivan
have been in a loving relationship for 11 years and have a beautiful daughter named Tiger-Lily.

Tania has had a genuine passion for all creatures great and small, especially cats, from a very young age, therefore has worked as a Veterinary Nurse part time for 10 years, earning a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing along the way. Ivan has been a carpenter for 15 years and is planning to slow down his building business to spend more time with Tiger-Lily and fulfil his passion for flying planes. |
Finally, after 6 hard years of developing specific skills and knowledge, researching world wide facts and figures, extensive planning and saving money, our dream of owning and working at our own cattery on our own beautiful property is finally becoming a reality.

We have two beautiful feline friends of our own, Taj and Samara, named after the Tigers at Dreamworld. Taj is a white domestic long hair, nearly 11 years old and has a very demanding personality due to being spoilt rotten. Samara is a domestic medium hair whom we acquired from death row 8 years ago and is our shy and precious little girl. Taj and Samara are best of buddies and love to create double trouble whenever they get the chance. |
We also have 2 dogs, one called 'Mohan', who is a 9 1/2 yr old English Mastiff. He is a very docile, gentle giant who loves to sleep and drool. The other one is 'Missy', a 2 1/2 year old Border Collie who absolutely loves to run.
Hobbits Knob Cat Retreat also welcomes Laura to our team. Laura is at present completing a Certificate III in Companion Animal Services through the Animal Industries Resource Centre and getting further training and knowledge with Hobbits Knob. You will feel confident that Laura is undoubtedly very caring and knowledgeable towards all animals and will take very good care of all cats at Hobbits Knob.
Please also welcome Tara and Rachael to our team. Both girls were successful in joining our team from over 120 applicants, starting with us in November and have been busy learning the ropes behind the scenes. Tara and Rachael are both very passionate about animals and have a special connection with cats, which makes them great for our team. Please be patient with the girls as they are still learning the reception side of the job.
